 2017 Preview 


       South Choctaw Academy completed the 2016 season with a 8-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class A region two, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. South Choctaw Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Abbeville Christian by a score of 41-26.

       Since 2010, South Choctaw Academy has gone a combined 38-44. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, South Choctaw Academy has managed to compile a record of 132-144. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class A and 23rd in the AISA.

       The Rebels are led by head coach Charlie Taylor who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 76-43 over the past ten seasons at South Choctaw Academy. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Taylor. Coach Taylor led South Choctaw Academy to a state championship in 2007.

       Coach Taylor's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen season stands at 90-70 (56.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Taylor's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won three region championships.

       If South Choctaw Academy can win ten games this season, Coach Taylor will reach the 100 win milestone.

       The South Choctaw Academy Rebels will play in Class A region two during the 2017 season.

       The Rebels will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season.

       The Rebels open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Jackson Academy on Friday, August 25 at McCorquodale Stadium. Last year the Jackson Academy Eagles finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class AA region two. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Lakeside by a score of 42-35.

       South Choctaw Academy and Jackson Academy have met a total of 51 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 26-25-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2016 with South Choctaw Academy winning by a score of 45-21.
